Method

Each country has a price level relative to the United States, derived from the World Bank purchasing power parity conversion factor and current market exchange rates. A price level of 0.5 means a basket of goods costing $100 in the United States costs about $50 there at market exchange rates.

This is a country-level estimate, not a city-specific quote. Housing in capital cities usually costs more than the national average. Minimum wage pages on this site show the same adjustment applied to statutory wages.
